Victorian
Victorian Perennial Ryegrass is a locally grown ecotype that persists very well. It is not as productive or rust resistant as newer varieties but can be used in areas where high production is not an issue, or as part of a mix to help with persistence. Ideally BOLTON or AVALON that were bred to replace Victorian should be the choice to sow down as they are Australian bred and will persist as well or better than Victorian but will be more productive and rust resistant. If ryegrass staggers are an issue avoid sowing Victorian. Sowing Avalon AR1 or Ausvic are the best options to sow for stopping ryegrass staggers.
